The European Association of Heavy Haulage, Transport and Mobile Cranes (ESTA) revealed the Awards of Excellence 2007. Some 500 guests from around Europe and the world were present at the annual meeting and dinner in Munich, Germany to witness the award ceremony.


Award winners 2007

Crane Jobs of the Year

Cat. A <100t telescopic or equivalent lattice boom
The awards in Category A were presented by Mr Ron DeFeo (Terex-Demag) to

No. 1  Ainscough Crane Hire (UK)

Installing 4.5t sections underneath the low headroom roof of the new Millennium Stadium required telescoping in a tandem lift from a temporary location at height.


No. 2  Mammoet Deutschland (Germany)

Two city-type cranes, working in tandem and telescoping under load, installed a 11 x 3 x 1.7m/20t basin inside a tight factory.


No. 3  H. van Oorschot kranen (Netherlands)

Salvage of a derailed gantry crane (66t) required a crew, 4 cranes and 2 aerial platforms working together.

The awards in Category B were presented by Mr Mario Trumzer (Liebherr) to

No. 1  Mammoet (Netherlands)

Installation of two 54m/2050t reactors in China involved 1200km local mobilisation of MSG80, design of special lifting flange and skidding of tail frame set below grade.


No. 2  BMS (Denmark)

Installing a 203t / 76 x 11 x 3.2- 6.2m roof truss required 450 &  500t cranes in tandem, adding a 400t crane and, only for exact positioning, adding again 110t & 250t cranes.


No. 3  Mediaco (France)

The delicate deconstruction of the partly collapsed de Gaulle airport terminal over a 9 month period, included lifting 35000t of material with 12 cranes from 35 to 800t.

The awards in Category A were presented by Mr Glen Tellock (Grove) to


No. 1  Convoi (Netherlands)

A custom designed ‘Rotation Tool’ enables turning Ø2.4 to 2m and moving 3t magnets of MRI scanners.


No. 2  Van de Wetering (Netherlands)

 

Transport of a yacht from Maasbracht (NL) through Belgium and France to the Mediteranean Port St. Louis.


No. 3  R. Collett&Sons (UK)

 

Shipping from Poland, handling and local transport in Scunthorpe (UK) of 3 large Gas Scrubber sections (67t/42t/5t).

 

 

Cat. B >120t GVW

The awards in Category B were presented by Mr Dick Nooteboom (Nooteboom Trailers) to


No. 1  Mammoet (Netherlands)

A 125 x 50m/2500t prefab bridge was installed in the USA by 10m lifting, supports, self-propelled and standard modular trailers and a catamaran barge set-up.


No. 2  TLW transports Leclerc (France)

 

The re-use of an old railway bridge at another location required splitting the bridge (32m/105t & 35m/115t) in order to enable moving through villages.


No. 3  Wagenborg Nedlift (Netherlands)

 

Moving a C3 splitter (251t/52m and 31.4m/125t) to an inland port, transhipment, barging, reloading and road transport to site in Germany.

 

 

Innovation Award 2007
The Innovation Award was presented by Mr Ludo Sarens (Sarens) to Mr Glenn Tellock from
MANITOWOC Crane Group’s for the Grove GTK1100, a new concept in telescopic tower cranes.

 

Development Award 2007

The Development Award was presented by Mr Martin Ainscough (Ainscough) to Mr Mario Trumzer from Liebherr for the record 1,200t capacity LIEBHERR LTM 11200.9-1 equipped with 100m telescopic boom.

  

Personality of the year Award 2007

The Personality Award was presented by Mr Wolfgang Draaf (BSK) to
Mr Otto Rettenmaier, TII Transporter Industry International Group owners of Scheuerle, Nicolas and Kamag.
